Tap Dancing for Beginners

Calendar Jan 30, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Tap dancing is a great way to build strength and flexibility. In this fun, 6-week class, you’ll start by finding the beat of a song and

moving your feet rhythmically. You’ll then move on to learning basic tap moves and combinations. Tap shoes are encouraged, but not necessary to begin. You’ll get a great cardio workout while learning how to dance from an experienced instructor.

 

Tax Prep for New Tax Laws - Hampden

Before you file your income taxes, take this one-night class. We'll teach you about tax deductions, tac credits and itemizations as they apply to your tax return. We'll discuss W-2 employees, self-employed and landlord income and expenses. 

Special emphasis will be given to the impact that the new 2017 Tax Act wil have on taxpayers.

The College Experience - Year 1

This 24-hour course is designed for the adult education student, high school senior or high school graduate who is interested in advancing to college. The course is designed to empower students to achieve success in college and life.

Some course topics include: the financial aid process, the college application process, Accuplacer Testing, characteristics of successful college students, campus life, research skills, financial literacy and writing for college.

Students who successfully complete this 24-hour course will earn one credit from Eastern Maine Community College.

This course is free to most local residents - contact us at 866-4119 (Orono), 862-6422 (Hampden) or 827-3906 (Old Town) to find out more about this course or to see if you qualify for free tuition.

 

Under the Umbrella Paint Night - Orono

Calendar May 15, 2019 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

This one-night 'paint and sip' style class is intended for people who want a fun and creative evening out. You'll create a beautiful acrylic painting of a of a woman under an umbrella walking in a rainy forest that you can display in your home or gift to a friend.

You'll be able to improvise and choose your colors while the instructor explains the method.

A snack will be provided; bring a coffee to tea with you.

A $15.00 materials fee will be paid directly to the instructor the night of class.

 

Valentine's Day Wreath Making

In this hands-on, one-night class, you will design, create and take home with you a beautiful Valentine's Day themed wreath that will last you for many seasons. This decorated sparkling mesh wreath will jazz up your holiday.

You'll need to bring with you to class a good pair of scissors. This is a fun activity to bring a son or daughter with you.

The $40.00 course fee includes the cost of all materials needed.

 

Winter Walking Club

Too cold, dark or slippery outside to get a walk in? Join our indoor walking club. You can stay at ground level or challenge yourself by walking up and down different levels. This is an idependent program - you'll walk at your own pace by yourself or with friends.

 

Wooly Tree Class

Calendar Feb 2, 2019 at 9:30 am, runs for 1 week

In this one-day class, you'll learn how to make an 18" evergreen tree out of wool. Wool is fringed, wrapped around wires and attached to a dowel with floral tape. All materials are provided, including a rock maple tree stand.

Sharp shears are required. Bring a ruler and a rag for wiping glue off hands. 

A $35.00 materials fee will be payable directly to the instructor the day of class.

Please register for this class with RSU 22 Adult Education and not through the instructor, to ensure that your space will be saved.
