Conversational Spanish - Orono

The emphasis in this 6-week class will be on oral communication: listening and speaking skills. You’ll learn to respond to basic questions, react in Spanish appropriately to situations in the classroom environment, follow directions in Spanish and react in simple social settings. You’ll benefit from participating in this class, regardless of your level of ability speaking and understanding Spanish.
English as a Second Language

The focus of this free, 6-week course is to help students develop English competency by helping them acquire skills in all basic skill areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Throughout the course, we will integrate various aspects of American culture in our lessons that will help students feel more comfortable interacting in our society.
This course would also be useful for students who are interested in prepared for the U.S. Naturalization Test.
Introduction to Latin

In this 6-week introductory level class, you will learn why Latin is not a "dead language". We'll read, speak and listen to Latin while also learning about the Latin culture in a relaxed, enjoyable and supportive setting.
Any student in grades 8-12 attending this course with a parent, may take it free of charge. Other high school students pay only $10 for this course (call us to register at 862-6422).
Introduction to Spanish - Hampden

In this 6-week class, students will begin to acquire a grasp of the Spanish language in order to understand and communicate with Spanish speakers. We'll learn greetings, commonly used phrases, vocabulary, basic grammar and other everyday-life speaking and listening skills.
U.S. Citizenship Test Prep

This 10-week course is designed to help students prepare for the civics portion of the U.S. Citizenship Test. Even if you are not sitting for the test, the information (American History, Government) covered in this class would be valuable to you.
This class is offered in conjunction with Literacy Volunteers of Bangor.
The course fee covers the cost of the textbook.
