Creating A Resume That Gets You Hired-Orono

There's a lot of confusion when it comes to creating a resume that gets you hired. This 3-week course will show you the basics of creating a resume that can be easily updated and adapted to fit any job or career requirements. Participants will get one on one support from the instructor, education regarding what types of resumes make it to the hiring manager's desk, and will workshop their resumes with their classmates. Participants will finish the course with a firm understanding of how to create a resume from scratch, or update an outdated one. 

Cost: $15 (plus a $5 Materials fee paid directly to the instructor)

American Sign Language 2 This 6-weeks course will provide students with practice opportunities using the conversational and fingerspelling skills. Communicate in practical real-life contexts, and increase vocabulary, ASL grammar, facial expressions, fluency, and confidence. Prerequisite: should have previous experience in ASL 1 such as fingerspelling, alphabets, numbers, and basic vocabulary.Best for ages 16 years and up.No textbooks required. Handouts will be provided.

History Of The Holocaust-Orono

This 4 week course will begin with a history of the Holocaust including a brief history of the Jewish Religion, its persecution and the progression of the Nazi Ideology throughout Europe. We will then make the connection with the exploration of different ethical, legal, and moral issues related to the Holocaust. We will also explore modern day genocides in places like Rwanda, Darfur, and Bosnia. Other examples of genocide will also be discussed, for example, the Armenian Genocide in the early 1900s - which the United States just designated as a genocide. To tackle these difficult topics, we will be using first hand accounts from victims and survivors through the use of letters, diary excerpts, and testimony from survivors. There is no text book for this class - but you will receive information from me, the internet, and materials that I handout!

You will walk away from this class with a better knowledge of your energy usage and its impact on the environment and your wallet. If you attend this class and you qualify, you may be eligible to receive free light weatherization services. We hope to see you there. (This course is free but you must register.)

Penobscot Bay Sail & Power Squadron, America's Boating Course-Hampden

The basic five-week (8 hours + exam) course is designed to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of safe boating and to qualify for certification in most states that require boating education before operating a watercraft.  Coverage includes safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, and knots and lines.  The information is useful for users of all sorts of watercraft (power, sail, paddle) and for both ocean and freshwater boating.  The course includes an examination.  The student course book is recommended, but optional, and may be shared.   For more information, contact the instructor at meeser3@roadrunner.com or 862-3674 or the RSU #22 Adult Education Office at 862-6422. PetTech-Pat First Aid and CPR-Orono

This class includes CPR techniques, first aid skills, health care and wellness information for dogs and cats. Demonstrations will be done in class as well as hands on skill practicing. Every student will be required to demonstrate the skills learned. We will also have time for questions and storytelling. We believe discussing the "what if" situations allow for a better understanding of how to use these skills in real life scenarios. Additionally, the class includes our PetSaverTM 40-page handbook and upon successful completion, each participant will receive a certificate and a wallet card. Be prepared for the unexpected!
