Beginning/Intermediate Color with Watercolor-Orono

Welcome to the wonderful world of color! If you are interested in learning about basic color theory for the first time, or maybe want to refine your knowledge, this is the class for you! The fun and fast paced class will keep you learning and challenged, while having fun. We will cover basic techniques such as color harmony, contrast, color values and light's relationship with color. Each week we will learn something new, and you will have a fun assignment to apply what you have learned! It will not be just color study, but we will apply your knowledge to actual paintings done in class and as homework.

Gentle Yoga-Orono

This six week course is a gentle yoga class suitable for those who are new to yoga, as well as those who have a more developed practice. We will practice breathwork and meditation, and explore postures and movements to stretch our bodies and help relieve tension and stress.

Would you like to learn how to save energy and save money? This class will teach you the tips and tricks for keeping warm this winter without spending more on your heating bill. You will walk away from this class with a better knowledge of your energy usage and its impact on the environment and your wallet. If you attend this class and you qualify, you may be eligible to receive free light weatherization services. We hope to see you there. (This course is free but you must register.)

Penobscot Bay Sail & Power Squadron, America's Boating Course-Hampden

The basic five-week (8 hours + exam) course is designed to familiarize the student with the fundamentals of safe boating and to qualify for certification in most states that require boating education before operating a watercraft.  Coverage includes safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, and knots and lines.  The information is useful for users of all sorts of watercraft (power, sail, paddle) and for both ocean and freshwater boating.  The course includes an examination.  The student course book is recommended, but optional, and may be shared.   For more information, contact the instructor at meeser3@roadrunner.com or 862-3674 or the RSU #22 Adult Education Office at 862-6422. Introduction to Fly Fishing - Orono

Topics covered include tackle selection and assembly, knots, fly casting, fish foods, artificial flies, fly fishing strategies, entomology, and wading safety. After completing this course, you should have all the understanding and skills necessary to catch fish with a fly rod on your own. Delectable Doggie Treats-Hampden

Spend an evening making healthy, delicious dog treats out of common household ingredients. These will be rolled, cut out, and cooked in the oven. A variety of shaped cookie cutters will be provided, but if you have a particular cookie cutter that you think your dog will like, please feel free to bring it to the class. All other supplies will be provided. 

Cost $7 (plus a $10 materials fee paid directly to the instructor)

Steel Mace Flow (TM) Fitness-Orono

An ancient weapon and training tool turned mainstream for modern-day fitness, the steel mace holds the power to build stability, core strength, balance, shoulder mobility and functional strength. Using the Steel Mace Flow (TM) System, participants will learn the structure and steps to move with 10 lb mace through a series of positions to create strong and beautiful flows. This unique fitness experience is both resistance training and artistic expression. Do something beautiful with your strength! Lighter weight steel and wooden maces will be available as well to make this strength art accessible to all levels.
